Assigning Geometry to Levels

Metrics allows you to assign automatically the levels that you have created to your Rhino geometry depending on their Z value. Just bear in mind that this command does not work with objects that are not planar to the XY plane of the World Bottom default construction plane. To do this go to the Metrics tab and click on Auto Set Levels or type the command HS_AutoSetLevels. Then select the Rhino geometry to which you want to assign the levels and click Enter or right button of the mouse when you are done. After this, in the Parameters Panel, you can check the level where the object has been assigned.

If you want to change the level on an object or you are using objects that are not planar to the XY plane of the World Bottom default construction plane, you still have the option to set the level manually. However, to make this work you have to use first the Auto Set Levels command so that a level is initially assigned to that object. Once you have done that, select the object whose level you want to change and in the Parameters Panel click on Set Level. Then choose the line that represents the level that you want to assign to that object. This is particularly helpful for objects that due to the nature of the Rhino model are between different levels. Assigning an object to a different level to the one that was automatically set for it will not change the height of the level, only the information of that parameter for that object.
